Virgin Money Foundation
The Virgin Money Foundation was launched in 2015 as a new, independent charitable foundation. Initially the Foundation is focusing on community projects in the North East but over time will grow to operate nationally.
The Foundation has been established to promote sustainable regeneration in economically and socially deprived communities. This includes providing social investment in community housing and building projects, promoting opportunities for youth work, education, training and enterprise, relieving unemployment, and the support of other charitable purposes in the UK.
The Foundation was launched with an initial £8 million of funding pledged by the UK Government and Virgin Money. In the first round of funding from the Foundation, grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 were made to 26 projects in the North East region, totalling £1 million.
